Meter Reading

City Employees read water meters around the 9th of the month.  If the 9th falls on a weekend or holiday, meters are read the day before the holiday or weekend.The City of Georgetown does not estimate meter reads.  Please keep meter covers clear for proper reading.  If the meter is covered by a vehicle, it could be towed at owner's expense. During the fall and winter months, please be courteous and keep the meter of leaves, snow, and ice.  

The City of Georgetown uses a vehicle reading system that reads water meters by a high-powered radio frequency transmitter as our public works employees drive through the city.  The meter communicates with a laptop computer and the information is sent to and from the data collection system for billing.

Water meter
